When you go up against a company thinking you can get a large win, get your facts right and listen to your legal advice..

Probably cost them more the cruise, sad

Default What were the "alleged" injuries?

Doesn't say anywhere what the injuries were or if they were treated w/o cost by the cruise line. Obviously if I had gotten a broken ankle/leg, I would expect the cruise line to be apologetic, get me treatment and might even think they should foot the bill for the injury. Would I expect compensation for a bruise or bump? No. Would I expect compensation for aggravation or inconvenience or anything beyond the treatment? No. Wish the article went into detail on just what happened with the injuries and the cruiselines response to the injuries at the time of the incident.

I find this strange that the cruisers waited over 2 years to file a claim....Article doesn't go into any detail as to what the injuries were or how Princess handled it at the time. I'm thinking there is more to the story.

Sounds like they and their Lawyer tried to make a quick buck, but the Judge gave the cruiseline the quick buck insted

This decision appears to be very narrowly written to include only the legal mumbo-jumbo governing this case. It apparently does not even address the issues of cause, injuries, treatment, compensation etc. It is interesting the court seems to say Princess' passenger contract supersedes maritime law.

Default Been there/done that

I can honestly say I've sued a cruise line and won!!!! No, I won't say which one, but this is what I've learned...You must contact a Maritime Lawyer asap who knows the proper procedures.. a regular lawyer does not know maritime law and the need to file asap.. We were lucky in that Parrot Pop took many pictures of the problem area where I broke my left wrist and suffered a severe Colles Fx because of poor design. Having worked in a hospital I was shocked at the treatment I received or should I say non--treatment (it was 10:00 a.m. on the first morning)and the lack of experience of the nurse x-raying my wrist, never mind the accusatory questions by the Head of Security. There are few times in my life when I keep a cool head, but after discussing the MD's qualifications I asked if I could phone my orthopedic..His answer was "Yes, maybe there is something I can learn"...To shorten the story I was operated on within the week of getting home with the possible loss of 30% use of my left hand and spent the season with external fixation on my hand. Not once did the M.D. or nurse contact me except to send a bill and give me pain meds..Since I am not a good patient and never obey orders my hand regained much of its use fortunately. The other thing is that we had witnesses and Parrot Pop detailed everything not only in pictures, but a blow by blow description of what exactly happened..Did I make alot of $$..no..has the problem been solved on this ship.. I don't know..haven't been back on it.. Talk about ruining vacation. I was not able to get dressed myself, nor cut food..nor go in the pool crossing the Atlantic and lived on Codeine for the rest of the week... The cruise line lawyers wanted us to fly to Florida to be examined by their M.D.s..As I mentioned earlier because I am a rotten patient and had an excellent orthopedic I had a "good outcome"..We were not out to make $$ but the poor design of this area caused me to lose out on my vacation and suffered for months in pain and discomfort.
