Default What Cruise Ship Amenities could you not live without?

Kuki posted a thread about what cruise ship amenities you could live without so I thought I would post one with the opposite theme.

WHAT CRUISE SHIP AMENITIES COULD YOU NOT LIVE WITHOUT?

Now we know that food and drink is a given for any cruise so lets hear some ideas.

I know I simply Love a ship having a big screen for movies on the Lido deck and a balcony is a must for the Mrs. and I. Free Ice cream is a favorite of mine and I love to get full body massages in the spa. A cruise wouldn't be much fun without the sports bar either!

Balcony staterooms - we are spoiled by them
Snack food locations - pizza, burgers and ice cream - a fellow has to have a vice and we like to dine late

The BIG shows. Yes, I've seen them over, and over, but I love the music, dancing, and the overall ambiance of the BIG shows.

Morning tea and juice delivered to my cabin. For me, a real luxury!

Absolutely nothing - as long as I have a comfortable bed and food I can tolerate/eat - nothing else is required.

I assumed wrongly that the cabins come ensuite! Air conditioning - not a necessity for me - same goes for casinos!

Nightly turn down service.
A decent quality and a variety of food. (Denny's or Diner food, shipwide won't do)
Lounge shows and other entertainment
Casino
Reasonably large balcony cabins (160 sq. ft. or larger)
Interesting itineraries.

Air conditioning and heating is a must. Without it, even a balcony cabin is intolerable and without ventilation an inside becomes a sweat box.

Take care,
Mike

I would say that A/C, functioning toilets, and good food is a givin for any cruise. I guess what I'm after is not the everyday expectations but the little things that make cruising fun.

Honestly, I had never really experienced turn down service until I cruised. and I have to say, its something I really enjoy when I get back to my cabin after a full evening of whatever I might have done. At home I have to say I hardly ever make my bed, (single guy etc etc) so I don't need it, but since the beds get made for me, its nice being able to just walk in and get ready for bed and crawl right in. Also, I fell in love with the duvets on the Imagination.

Talking Amenities

Well, having stayed in my life at Motel 6, and even worse, I can certainly LIVE without the amenities of cruising. BUT ... would I bother to cruise without them?

Our first cruise was in 1972 on board the Song of Norway, RCL's first ship, capacity 690 passengers (and a big ship for her time). Here are some of the amenities we did without:

Buffet (except for burgers by the pool)
Karaoke
Rock Climbing wall
Thermal Suite
Art Auctions
Alternative Dining
Caviar Bar
Balconies
Internet (what is that???)
Movies on deck
and more ....

Amenities it DID have that I miss ...
Free streamers to throw at sailing, and a band playing ashore!
Beef buillion served to the deck chairs

But guess what, we went back to cruising again and again!
