Default Captains cocktail party

When you get an invititation to the Cocktail Party, do you usually go?
I have often thought the timing of these get togethers is poor, and it often conflicts with our schedule.

The few times we have gone, it seems sort of clicky, and hard to integrate ourselves into a conversation..and for me, who can talk to a wall, and get an answer, that surprised me....if all things fall into place, and, we could go, we usually pass.

How do you feel?

Trip, with her book & tea!

I limit myself to the receptions for being a repeater or loyalty club member, since they sometimes have better snacks and drinks and a door prize. But I never let them be a factor in setting my schedule. If I can fit it in, fine. Otherwise I'll skip it.

If you're referring to the "Captain's Welcome Aboard Cocktail Party" , I pretty much miss those. Not because I find it difficult to meet people, but more because they are crowded, and once I order my diet coke the waiters pretty ignore me

On occassion I've been invited to more private cocktail parties with the Captain, Hotel Manager and other officers. Unless I have something else really pressing (hard to do on a ship ) I'll accept those invitations. The crowd is normally small, and the Capt. and all the officers really make a point of getting around and conversing with everyone. These can be a good place to pick up a bit of ship's gossip

Is it me or has the welcome aboard party and Past guest parties on carnival been downgraded compared to a couple of years ago? Seems like drink selection is poorer, seldom more then 2 drinks available and the hore'derves (sic) are no where near as good as they once were.

As far as being a party??? These gatherings are not more then fill the theatre and get a drink and snack gathering. There is no room for socializing or meeting your fellow cruisers here. If that is a party, i'm a 600 pound Gorilla.
