Default Customized insurance

So, I've got my deposit down for my cruise in October, and I'm on my insurance companies partner site looking at travel insurance of course. I'm noticing something tho. There are a lot of things I don't need. I live in Florida and I drive to the port, as such, my car insurance covers me if there's an accident in route. I am a AAA member, so they cover a lot of little stuff as well. My primary medical insurance will cover me if I get sick until I get on the ship, and as I've never asked them, I don't know what they cover after I get on the ship ..

Ramble off and to the point, do most of you just take the package offered on the website of your preferred insurance company, or have you ever called and talked about the specifics of your vacation and gotten a more custom package built? With my proximity to the port and not needing air travel, I feel like a lot of what is in the plans I see on the web being wasted expenses.

Go to insuremytrip.com,and get the number and call them....I just did this last week. Told them of my specific needs, and voila...You can have them email you, some specific plans so you can peruse them easier, rather then trying to read every word from every package.

this is what we do. We usually get trip interuption/cancellation, baggage and medical evacuation. Definately find out if your health insurance will cover you once you board the ship

Well, I ended up with just one of the packages offered after I punched in my travel information. 50 bux for 2 people for a 3 night cruise with a cancel for any reason policy.
I get enough of a discount through USAA that in the end I just wasn't going to worry about anything else. I didn't go for the all out coverage. Just the various cancel/delay stuff, and some basic medical stuff. I figure myself and my travel companion are healthy enough that we just needed some coverage for accident stuff. But I've also emailed my primary insurance company to find out what all they offer.

I think I did okay, considering that from my apt to the ship and ship back to my apt I am covered for sure by my health insurance, AAA, and USAA. (Since I am driving to the port)

Yes. That one I wasn't going to go without. $100,000 per person, which considering we will only be down in the Bahamas, I think should be sufficient.

Yeah. Now I just need to book my hotel in Chicago for my birthday weekend so I can get that trip covered. A little easier for something like that tho. Don't need any additional medical coverage, and reparation isn't quite as important either. Just basic cancel/delay coverage.
