Default Cruise ships vs a tsunami

So the recent tradigty in Japan, Has me thinking were there any cruise ships in the path of the tsunami last week, or even in recent history?

what would happen to a "mega-ship" if it would caught in one? either in port or at sea?

MNice

A ship of any size wouldn't be affected at sea. At sea the wave is only a meter or less compared to the seas them selves.
If a ship has time it will try to get out into the open ocean. A ship in port
no matter it's size would probably suffer major damage or be destryed completely.

Tusnami waves build up to great heights in shallow water like coast lines or islands.

That's right. Get out to sea ASAP.

We were on the Sapphire Princess, in the Pacific, returning from Hawaii, when the tsunami hit. The day it was making its way across the Pacific, and reachd the US coast, we noticed nothing unusual at all.

In fact the seas returning were smoother than the first two days when we left Los Angeles bound for Hawaii.

So Kuki, did you know what what was going on? or just find out once you got back?
