I just booked my europe cruise with a local travel agent. This is the first time I booked with a travel agent. The only reason I did book it with him because he said he is going to give us $100.00 onboard credit with our reservation which RCCL doesnt give anything when going direct. I did book the cruise with him today and asked when will I see the onboard credit and he said "It wont be available on our account till the 2nd day of the cruise". Does this sound legit or does it sound like I wont be getting anything?
I understand why you're nervous, but any OBC you have from any source, shows up on the second or even the third day of the cruise. The Purser's office is busy doing embarcation stuff and it takes a while for the OBC to hit.
I agree with Trackypup, keep a copy of the credit and if it doesn't show up onboard you'll have proof. (My TA gives me a printout of all the OBC we have, whether it's from her or not.)

Have your travel agent print out a certificate or something that says you will receive the obc. It will show up on your account once onboard ship. Mine didn't show up until four days. I actually had to go to guest services and guest services called the main office in Miami; they got it fixed; hopefully you won't have the same problem I had; to answer your main question; yes it is legit.
