Hi everyone. I am posting to seek some advice. My boyfriend and I have been on one cruise (Mexican Riviera on Carnival) and had a really good time. I'm changing jobs and coasts (hello California!) and have a tiny window into which I am trying to plan a 4- or 5-day getaway.
I am thinking about the 4-day Baja Mexico cruise on Carnival Paradise but have a few questions:
-- Is it overrun with kids?
-- I would prefer a balcony but that's not an option. Are the oceanview rooms acceptable (except for the lack of fresh air)?
-- The ship is rated at 3 stars. Is that because it is relatively old for a cruise ship? Other reasons? Have you sailed on the Paradise?
-- The ports aren't that interesting (Catalina and Ensenada) but I'm really just looking for a low-key getaway for a few days.
-- My other thought is just to book a hotel for a couple of days.
This is all last-minute, and any advice is most appreciated. I've had a lot going on in the last couple of months and vacation-planning got away from me, even though I'd like this to be the very top priority!!
Yep, I'm leaning toward the cruise, which is why I'm on this site... Thanks for your replies! I guess I'm just concerned about the quality of the ship and the potential for lots of kids running around. It's not that I'm anti-kid, I just don't want to be on vacation on a floating daycare.
I thought the Paradise was great. I prefered it over the Splendor.
Did you mention the dates? That will determine the possibility of more kids. Is it during the week, a weekend, during school session, summer, etc.
