Default Why am I so worried??

Ok I will fully admit I am a little bit of a control freak. I just barely booked my first cruise and I'm just afraid I made a mistake, or the baby-sitters won't work out, or we'll spend too much money, or or or.....

I guess this is just the most detail-oriented and "risky" (risky meaning a lot of things need to go right so this can work out) trip I've done. And I've done all the decision making alone since I'm surprising hubby with this on Father's Day. Is it normal to feel this way? Maybe part of it is, despite my mucho research, I'm still not real familiar with cruising and feel a little blind going into all this. If it's just my control freak side of me coming out, just bonk me on the head with a 2x4. *sigh*

I am the same way. Just let your research calm you, that is what I do. The more I find out and have things organized, the more free I can be on my trip because I can relax, knowing that I am planned up. Please feel free to pepper us with any questions. This is what we love to talk about.

Peachy, Welcome to Cruise Mates!

Are you going to the Caribbean? Then - 'no worries mon'

But hey you just dropped a big chunk of change on something you have never done before, yes it is natural to stress a little. Roam around these forums and ask any questions you might have - we'll do our best to help you relax.

The unknown is always a bit scary, but, once you get your sea legs, you will "sea" how your careful planning has panned out.

It sounds like you have all your ducks in a row, so once the homefront gets squared away, you will see how cruising lets you be relaxed and carefree. Leave time for serendipity, not every minute needs to be planned.

Now, once you come back, we will need to hear all about it, deal?
Have an amazing cruise!

It never hurts to be too orgainized and informed. Please don't worry so much, sounds like you have everything under control. Not everything will go totally according to plan, but I bet you have a wonderful time. You can also pre plan things, excursions, dinners, etc....

Something new is going to be scary, but it's going to be all right. Calm down. You'll enjoy yourself. It's a wonderful Father's Day gift for hubby.

Voice what is on your mind. There are many many experts on here that will answer any question you have. Whatever control issue you think you have, I am sure there is a good answer that will help you with it.

Beyond that, just relax. If you've done any kind of big vacation before, cruising isn't going to be too different.

I think the main difference will be that you have much better control of the "spending". If you think about it, your transportation aboard the ship is already paid, as is your food, and your accommodations. Yes, you'll have tips, but you already know how much that'll be. You will probably spend some money on excursions, but you've been researching, and planning, and already know how much you're going to spend on that as well. Bottom line is that you have a much better idea of what you will, and what you won't have to spend. (Oh,,,I forgot about BINGO!)
Don't worry so much. You're going to have a GREAT vacation!

Thanks everyone, love this place! I'm definitely feeling better. I had just booked the cruise that day when I posted that so it wore off as time passed. It helped once I was able to tell hubby yesterday, talk about easing a burden. I've been asking a good bit of questions on here and I appreciate all the patience and answers. I know, when coming from a newbie, the questions can seem repetitious or obvious, so thanks for the help despite. It's not until November but I'll post pictures when we return!

. Our very first cruise was in 1972. Basically all we knew was to be at the airport at a certain time. The cruise line took it from there, and we did everything they suggested. And you know what? We had such a WONDERFUL time that we have been coming back ever since.

The honest fact is that you can just relax and let things happen and it will all be great. One of the best things about cruising is that we control freaks can just sit back, let the crew pamper us, and "play rich"!

However, this board is full of lots of highly opinionated people who like to go over every detail of cruising back and forth forever. If you like, you can sit here and get answers every day until you cruise. Some of the answers will actually be worth reading.

We think this is fun, or we wouldn't be "regulars" on this board. If it is fun for you, join right in!!
