Default Suggestions for Alaskan Cruise??

Hi everyone...long time reader/first time poster.

My wife and I both have an Alaskan cruise as a "bucket list" item. I am considering making this a special Christmas gift to her this year. Does anyone have any special advice for the best cruise line...cruise package...routes???

Any input is very much appreciated!!

Congrats on an Alaska cruise.

I would suggest doing a lot of research and decide on the ports you must see, then check the different cruiselines and find the right ship. You will find that there are more itinaries with Princess and I must say, they do Alaska wonderfully. I've also cruised out of both Vancouver and Seattle and much like going out of Vancouver a ton better, much more scenery and lots to look at through the inside passage, even though going out of Seattle, they call that an inside passage, I thought it was anything but that.

I think you will love a cruise like this, it is, so far my favorite.....Feel free to ask any questions you may have...

You'll need to firdt decide for how long you can cruise for 7 days or 14 days.

To do 14 days you'll probably cruise from Vancouver on a NB & SB cruise.

7 day cruises leave from Vancouver or Seattle. if your going to do a

cruise tour then the only choice is Vancouver.

We did 7 days land flying into Fairbanks .Afterward we did 7 days sea .It was a fantastic cruise with HAL 's Volendam. The only negative was that there were a lot of snobbish people cruising .

We did ,however meet a wonderful group of people from North Carolina.

Princess offers some really nice land and rail tours in conjuction with your cruise. We haven't actually cruised Alaska yet but have done extensive research on it (we were booked July 2009 and ended up moving cross country instead, so had to cancel our cruise!). When it's time to go, we'll be choosing Princess. Check 'em out -- Alaska Cruise & Cruisetours : Alaska Cruise Vacation : Princess Cruises
