Default Logo-icious:)

Are you a ship pin collector? Do you have one from every ship you have sailed, and how do you wear them or do you? Do you buy the tee shirts with the ships name or logo on them? How about a mugs or a pen to remind you of your cruise?

For the men...if the cruise lines designed ties, with tiny ships logos, would you go for that?

Or, maybe you just don't care for wearing any name anywhere

I have a collection of ship models of all the cruise ships I have sailed on.

I like to keep all the sign/sail cards, but the last few, they take them back at the end of the cruise....

That sucks. I like to keep the cards too.

I usually buy a tee shirt, a post card, and keep the sign and sail card.

On very random occasions in US Ports the local TSA, Port Authority, Port Security, or some other bored cowboy decides to flex his authority a bit and instructs the management of a disembarking ship to confiscate all cabin card keys as passengers leave the vessel.

The theory is that as cruise passengers leave the ship, a certain number of them drop their cabin card keys onto the terminal floor or into a trash bin. Any number of people have the opportunity to try to do something illegal with those cards.
Although security measures are in place to prevent someone else using that card to re-board the ship, those measures are not always as foolproof as we would like you to believe. There have been instances where a total stranger has utilized someone else's discarded cabin card key to illegally board a cruise ship.

The ships don't like keeping your card key. It's a lot of extra work and many passengers complain when it happens. We just end up throwing them away afterwards anyway.
If you want to avoid this happening to you, you should go to the passenger services desk before the end of the cruise and tell them you have lost your card. They will print a duplicate for you, which you then surrender at the gangway on the final morning.

My wife has no interest in ship pins .I have hers and mine . On my 2010 cruise I bought 2 tee shirts with the Holland America logo ,my wife thought that was nuts .She however usually comes home with mugs and pens .

I've had my card taken when we debarked once. So it does happen on occasion. There were a lot of unhappy people too. When word got around through message boards that it was happening many did what Bruce suggested and requested 2nd cards. It only lasted 2-3 weeks once that started happening.

Hey Bruce...

I love your insight on topics like this. That is actually very interesting and you are right that it could be a big possible security breach.

Especially if you happened to find the card of someone who looked like you - then when they scan it they would look at it and say "go ahead."

Most key cards have sail dates, though, and once you disembark a ship it is pretty hard to get back onboard (but not impossible, I am guessing).
