That is crazy! I am surprised it doesn't happen more often since there is so much heavy drinking going on (at least on the cruises I've been on). I wouldn't doubt at all if the person who fell was intoxicated.

I have often wondered about children falling overboard in some parts of the ship where the rail is just two thin bars like a fence. Most children can't resist the urge to climb on things like that.... :???:

I just about got my head handed to me on a platter on one cruise because unattended young boys were daring each other to climb up those rails. I stopped them, emphatically, just in time for "dad" to yell at me. I refused to apologize that time. But, that's me.

Unbelievable isn't it?
We were on a ship where someone "fell off" we were only coming into Southampton but the person was dead when they fished her out.

Those railings typically lean in, but it is surprising no little kid has overboarded. Let's hope it never happens.
