What theme cruise would get you to book?
Having just researched theme cruises for a recent podcast, I was blown away by the amount of themes.
So, what theme would get you to book? For me, it would be a couple: 1. A Disney fan gathering 2. Broadway 3. Italian cooking with Mario Batali and Anne Burrell I've seen a lot about jazz cruises on these boards and, of course, the cruisemates cruises. What else? |
A themed cruise would not persuade me regarding booking a cruise.
In fact, depending on the theme, it may cause me to not book that specific cruise at all. |
I would really like to see a "DIY" themed cruise, maybe sponsored by Lowes or Home Depot. There could be "how-to" lectures & demonstrations on simple home projects and/or repairs for the do-it-yourself people (like me). Maybe there could even be drawings for prizes, like certificates or coupons for free tools or other merchandise. Bob Vila could be a guest speaker. Maybe have Tim Allen (from "Home Improvement") for entertainment. Hey, if there can be scrap-booking themed cruises and the like for the ladies, how about something for the guys? It wouldn't even have to be a seven day cruise. A four day Bahamas cruise would be okay.

A theme having to do with........
The Beatles. TM |
Since I design jewelry, a beading cruise...would love to learn some bead weaving techiniques. I would also love to see travel celebrities.
Lot of themes cruises, I would stay away from like the plague...remember that American Girl Cruise, that effected our Eclipse cruise...ya, that's one group that would keep me away... |

We did a Beatles cruise once (by accident, we didn't know when we booked). They had a great tribute band and a lecturer who did a nationally syndicated radio beatles show. It was fantastic; especially as there were only 144 pax onboard and the girls (ladies, women) all sat in front row and screamed.
What would interest me are some specialised food cruises; e.g., I would love to go on a cruise that was devoted to foie gras. I have been on a chocolate cruise before (with Godiva chocolatier) but I would prefer foie gras. Also, a whisky tasting cruise would be great with the ability to work through 30 or 40 different scotches over a week. |
I don't think any theme cruise would interest me much, but a Cruisemates cruise is always fun and enjoyable..

If I ever do a CM cruise I will need a disguise ,perhaps a beard and mustache .
