When do shops close in Cozumel?

We'll be in port from 11am to 8pm. We'd like to do our Mr Sanchos thing first thing since they close at 5 I think. But I was worried that shops in Coz closed early and we wouldn't be able to hit many, if any, of them after we leave the beach. Are they open after 5? What time do a lot of them close? Seems like I heard somewhere that some stores take a siesta in the afternoon, true? Common? Thanks for any help ya got!

I know someone will come in with an answer, since many of our CM'ers, just came back from Coz..My instinct says that, if the ships are in port late, the shops are open & want to capture every dollar from the cruisers. They of course, would know the ships schedule and open/close accordingly.

The shops at your pier will be open for sure. They do tend to stay open later in general in Cozumel. You will be fine!

While there may be some that take a siesta in the afternoon, I have never seen one. They want your money more than their naps!
