I am taking a cruise out of San Juan leaving Easter Sunday to the Southern Caribbean. I did not realize this was spring break week when I booked it. I chose Princess cruise line because I felt it would have a more subdued clientel to begin with. However, do you think being spring break week that it will be crowded with rowdy partiers? My girlfriend says not so much because it isnt leaving from Ft. Lauderdale or Miami and it is more expensive for the college kids to leave out of PR. Your thoughts?
As a general rule, spring breakers don't cruise from San Juan..Air is always more. The only thing I will say, that sometimes can happen, and, has happened to me, is this: when cruises are not selling the cruise lines will, lower the prices, to fill the ships, and you may end up, with a larger percentage of non English speaking guests. It just cuts down on the ability to meet and mingle with more people.

We did our Southern Caribbean cruise from SJ (the DW was a lunch lady.) The ship was very crowded and as Trip suggests many were Puerto Rico residents - so announcements where in English and Spanish. Our cruise was on Carnival, not sure if you will run into the same issue with Princess or not.
Remember, however, Spring Break is not a single week across the country just because it is SB locally, it may not be elsewhere.

We sailed round trip from San Juan in March 2008 and just completed a repo to SJ last October.
