Post What is the one thing you have to have on your cruise!!

Balcony room....certain port....good food....entertainment....big ship....is there one thing you just have to have to make your cruise experience what you expect it to be?

Enough money to get the things I really like: good bottles of wine, martini's, interesting books, massages, speciality restaurants, balcony room; I can go on and on............

Most certainly, a balcony, it is always worth the extra cost...Then, there is everything that goes with cruising, the meals, entertainment, pool, sun, islands to visit, etc....Plus, no cooking, cleaning, laundry, etc....

Wife, balcony, decent restaurants, decent TV.

The TV is in the event there isn't anything else to do on the ship.

Take care,
Mike

I don't travel without my wife.

I won't cruise without a balcony cabin.

Whatever else the ship offers is fine with me.

Brownie points for "wife" Marc, Mike M. & Manuel! I agree without my hubby, or someone special to share it all with the trip seems void of what really makes it fun. I must say I too have been spoiled and love my balcony. If the ship is a smaller ship then yes need good TV or movie theater. All in all just love to cruise.....

I often wonder when I hear people say, they won't cruise unless they have a balcony, really? I know I sure enjoy it too, but, would that honestly, make you not cruise?

I do enjoy the newer big ships, interesting entertainment, and love our group cruises...seeing old pals, and making new ones.

Yes, on anything over a couple of nights a balcony is essential, in fact we wondered if we would be swayed by a cheap deal & our preferences...I am pleased to say after discussion we decided we would rather not go. We recently did a couple of short cruises inside...when we got home we upgraded to a balcony on our QM cruise. Never again we thought. I cannot imagine doing a world cruise in an inside cabin. Imagine having 6 sea days in a row, nowhere to go except wander round the ship.

I have not had a balcony on my last two cruises; a total of 32 nights. In fact, on our trip to Antarctica, we had only two portholes. For 36 hours of rough weather they had the porthole covers clamped shut so we didn't have any exterior light at all.

Even though I love balconies and my favorite cruise ships have balconies with every cabin; I have found I can adjust to not having a balcony depending on itinerary and cost. Of course, we always travel with friends on all inclusive ships so I can usually be found at one of the bars anyway even if I did have a balcony.

The DW won't cruise without at least an Ocean View - and me!

On Princess it has to be the chilled Pina Colada soup, we know our vacation is up & running then.
On any Cunard ship it has to be afternoon tea in the ball room, with the white gloved waiters
On all other ships it has to be another cruise booked so that we don't suffer the post cruise blues

Yes, a cruise would not be the same without my wife! However, I would be willing to cruise without her!

I too love balconies, but the last cruise funds were a little low so we got a ocean view cabin. This cabin ended up being in a great location and I learned a lesson there, location of a cabin means a big deal no matter what catagory you have.

We often cruise with my cousin and his wife and we have found that cruising is no where near as fun without them.

I guess there is no one thing I have to have, other then a place to smoke when I want. Cruising is just plain a great vacation!

awwww...look at the guys racking up the points with the wife comments

I will never cruise again without 'aftersun' which I had never heard of before (sheltered life). I fell asleep on the beach and I scorched my legs. Thankfully I made friends with someone that when I was complaining about being in pain he gave me a bottle and saved my life...lol. I would not have been able to enjoy the rest of my week without it!

Trip:

I may find out if I can live without a balcony. We are looking at a 34 day cruise from Auckland to Dubai in 2014. The price is steep but we could swing a outside cabin.

It's on Azamara and the outsides aren't too big but I may be able to handle it.

We'll see.

Take care,
Mike
