I just read an article in the Wall Street Journal, about mini bars in hotels, which mentioned that a bag of potato chips, at the St. Regis in Bal Harbour, went for $9.00,and at the Ritz- Carlton in NYC, a bag of chocolate covered macadamia nuts, will set you back $14.00!
Which led me to wonder about the mini bars on cruise ships, outrageous, convenient, or please clean me out? What's your take on the mini?
Trip, with her book & tea!

I don't recall any of my past cruises (all with Carnival) having mini-bars...
What lines have them? Does Princess?? Thanks!
I know the Spirit and Conquest class ships on Carnival have mini-bars. If I have sodas I want to keep "luke warm". I will empty out the mini-bar/fridge and give the contents to the room steward and put my stuff in there.
Often they are locked and you may have to ask the steward to unlock it so you can partake of the contents or empty it out.

For me, if am I on Carnival anyway..yes, the sodas are high but not so incredibly high that one would freak out. Hence, I bring my own sodas and if I run out (I always do)..I can get one from the mini bar. I like knowing I can do that and it is very convenient not to have to leave my cabin and go hunting around the ship for a soda..
We've never used the goodies and drinks in a mini-bar. (afraid of the prices) We've always stored OUR drinks, etc in there...and come to think of it, the little mini is never cold...cool but never cold!
