Default 11 Reasons You Should Never Take a Cruise

You gotta love the press; all they do is concentrate on the negatives of everything!! MSN seems especially geared towards the negative side of things, especially cruising.

There were over 16 million people cruising last year and the press wants to point out that a couple of dozen people had a problem!

The only thing that made sense in the entire article is the last page about how to enjoy a cruise, which basically said 'use common sense'.

They could only come up with 11 'reasons' never to take a cruise, yet almost everything they talked about is true for just about any place you go! Nothing, except maybe getting seasick, was exclusive to cruising!! It would have been a better story to come up with the hundred reasons why taking a cruise is a good idea!

Once again, instead of pointing out why 95% of 16 million passengers enjoy their cruise, the press wants to point out that a few people had problems.

Here's the story; 11 reasons you should never, ever take a cruise - Health - MSN Healthy Living

And they wonder why we don't trust the press anymore!!

Rolling my eyes here. I think people just try to come up with something to write. As you say, you can go on vacation almost anywhere and most of this stuff applies.

The press does what it has to do to sell their publications.

People love to read about the negative side of life. Scandals, lies and rumors sell newspapers and magazines.

We do know that the average person can't handle the truth.

This is a load of crap. I could have put it more eloquently but "load of crap" is the best description.

I just returned from a land cruise of the Southwest that included a week in Vegas. Vegas is great but I felt a lot less "safe" there then on a cruise.

Including sunburn, depression, bed bugs and allergic reactions as reasons not to cruise was just unprofessional and uncalled for. These things apply to any "vacation", be it in a resort, hotel or Uncle Joe's house.

Now I remember why I don't watch or read MSN.

Take care,
Mike

I think 'load of crap' is saying it very eloquently!! Sounds much better than what I had to say about it!

I took some journalism courses in college and the one thing the professor always impressed upon us was when writing a story to do so with absolutely no bias or slanting. A reporter's job is to report the facts. And these facts should be reported from both sides so the reader can decide on their own how they feel about the story. It is not the reporter's job to inject their own opinions. If they want to do that, then write an editorial and not an article, but clearly show it's an editorial. Unfortunately, reporters nowadays are very well educated, only report one side of the story, always show bias, and usually have absolutely no idea what they're talking about! They're in too big of a hurry to write something negative to get the attention and never spend any time actually investigating the story.

Do they have companion articles on reasons you shouldn't leave your house and reasons you shouldn't stay home?

I have never experienced any of the things listed in this article and I cruise all the time, I donīt walk around with my eyes shut either; I am very street wise and notice things. I think the media has a terrible bias when it comes to the cruise industry if I believed a word these idiots write I would never set foot on a cruise ship, fortunately I know itīs a load of rubbish but how many first time cruisers will be put off by these over exaggerated lies.

I agree - a completely bad article - Norovirus is just as common on land as it is on cruise ships - funny how you never hear that in any article that refers to it as the "cruise ship disease."

It's too bad the people who they interview, like Charles Lipcon, are lawyers. Otherwise it would be feasible to sue some of these guys for libel.

I mean - some of these lawyers have blogs that do nothing but "embellish the truth" in order to put cruising in a bad light. If it is a flat out lie, and it is done purposely to hard the subject of the article, that is by definition "libel."
