Yep, and the same applies to every other insurance company out there and the same complaints can be found about all of the companies no matter which one you select. Besides, if you're looking at a complaint website, do you honestly think you're going to find people stating how satisfied they are with a product?

Plus, people are more apt to complain when something goes their way than they are to compliment when everything goes well. And alot of times people are trying to claim things that are not covered in the first place. I read many of these and this was very obvious. Several said they could not get a copy of the policy prior to purchasing it. Not only is this incorrect, but copies are readily available not only on their website, but directly through the agents.

I'm not saying every situation is perfect nor that problems don't exist. But anyone who has file any time of insurance claim for any reason (auto, house, health, etc.) knows the roadblocks all of these companies put in the way - not just travel insurance. They are huge number of complaints for every type of insurance.

But as I said, with tens of thousands of satisfied customers and only a few complaints, the facts speak for themselves. Some complaints should not deter people from purchasing travel insurance because the overwhelming number of claims are handled satisfactorily. I've been doing this for 11-1/2 years and personally have never gotten any complaints. So while there are always going to be some problems, the majority are very satisfied.

I'm telling you, first hand, to GET INSURANCE!!!!

As stated in a previous post, I bought travel insurance for an Alaskan cruise just this past August. We were going with my sister, her husband and we were both in Junior Suites. We had purchased the cruise and insurance 1 year ago, around the same time my mom went into a nursing home; both of us thinking if something happened to mom, we'd be covered.
Well, my partner got diagnosed with cancer in July and started radiation and chemo immediatly leaving us no choice to cancel our cruise. My sister has since gotten "all" of her $$ back, just this past Wednesday, with took only 1 month. I sent mine in about 1 week later so should be getting my check soon.

Spend the extra few dollars because you never know what life is going to hand you!!!!

This is where a good travel agent comes in handy. So many people buy their travel online and accept what is in front of them. A computer is a machine. Machines do not ask questions, machines do not suggest.

I read those complaints. I feel bad for every single person, however there was an ongoing theme among all those complaints. Someone involved had a pre-existing condition. That eliminates almost all claims unless you have specific insurance that will cover pre-existing.

Without a travel agent to talk to prior to buying both travel and insurance far too many people fall into this deep well of mistakes and it can cost them dearly.

I'm not recommending any particular insurance company. I am recommending travel insurance and that you read the policy before buying.

I agree 100%, Felix!!

It's always best to book with an agent because they're able to explain all the nuances of a particular policy and answer all the questions so the client understands the policy and makes sure it covers them for their specific needs. As with anything else in life, all insurance companies and all policies are not created equal and it pays to have an agent who will help you should problems arise.

Booking through these large online sites does not provide the personal touch when needed because the overwhelming people you talk to work in a call center and are not certified travel agents. They just sell, not provide service.

As you alluded to, the majority of complaints on that website did have a common theme, but the problems mainly dealt with the fact the did not understand what they were buying, didn't ask any questions, and assumed it would cover everything in every situation. Not every policy is for every person and it's always good to have someone on your side.

Default If you know of anyone with a preexisting condition

So, in summary, if you know of anyone with a pre-existing condition... ie a neighbor, facebook aquaintance, postal worker, office co-worker etc. you are NOT covered by Allianz. Now I know.

You have to be fraudulent in order for a credit card company to re-imburse-which they did. Its all a money game for sure.

Get insurance, just dont get it from Allianz who recently changed their name I wonder why??
