Default Tragic News From the NCL Breakaway

This from NCL:

We are extremely saddened to report that a tragedy occurred on board Norwegian Breakaway this morning. Our emergency medical team was called and notified that two small children were rescued from the adult pool, but were unresponsive on the pool deck. The team responded immediately and quickly administered CPR to both children. The older child was then airlifted by the U.S. Coastguard to the closest medical facility, accompanied by his grandmother and a nurse from the ship. Devastatingly, after many resuscitation attempts, the younger child passed away on board.

We extend our deepest sympathies to the family during this extremely difficult time and are providing full assistance and support.

The family is in our thoughts and prayers and we ask that you please keep them in your thoughts and prayers as well.

I feel very sad for that family. It will be quite difficult to deal with such a tragedy.

As a parent and a grandparent, I can't imagine the heartbreak they're feeling. Such a tragic accident.

There's not much information out there about this, yet, but I can't help but wonder; what were two very young children doing in the 'adult' pool and where were the parents?

We just got back from a cruise with our 4 year old grandson and we never let him out of our site - ever! And we never let him on the slide without one of us being there or in the pool without his swimming vest on and one of us in the pool with him. At that age, anything can happen. We would be devastated had something like this happened to him.

My thoughts are prayers go out to the family.

Pete

I watched a news segment that said the older child is in stable condition, thankfully.
