Default So What Actually Happens If I Fall For ‘Free Airline Voucher’ Scam?

As we've been telling people for years; if it sounds too good to be true, it always is. And, you never get something for nothing.

But you'd be surprised how many people fall for these scams.

So What Actually Happens If I Fall For ?Free Airline Voucher? Scam? ? Consumerist

Pete:

I too am amazed at how many people fall for this stuff. One of my "pet peeves" are people who enter contests and giveaways for free cruises, airline, computers, cars, cash and other stuff. They enter, give them their personal information, including name, address, phone number and email, then they, and everyone on their address list, wonders why they are getting Spam, solicitation phone calls, and virus'.

Yes, some of these are valid, such as: Church fund raisers, local club drawings but most of the stuff online is just a way to get your information. On Facebook I see this all the time and it bugs the heck out of me. Especially when the person has their email hacked and I start receiving spam. I have three real friends and their emails are blocked by my firewall because they were hacked. All of them are people who love to enter "contests". Also, all of them are constantly having weird computer problems.

If it looks too good to be true. It isn't. Save yourself and your friends the hassle and don't enter.

Take care,
Mike

I second that and will add; nothing in life is free.

It drives me insane to see so many friends of mine who I thought were smarter, who go right along.

It always amazes me how many people are dumb enough to believe some of this stuff and then post them on Facebook like it's really true without fact checking. On many many occasions people posts things and I'll check them on Snope to find out it ain't true and let them know about it. You want to give them their sign to wear. You know, the sign the says, "I'm an idiot!" That way the rest of us will know ahead of time so we can avoid them!
