Exclamation Cruise to Cuba

I knew you could arrange to tour the island but to cruise there that's a new one.
It's a bit expensive for around 5k but otherwise I'd totally go. How about you?

That is a pretty high price....I think I'll wait it out and may-be in my lifetime, we can actually take a cruise and have Cuba as a port?? I know if you go out of Canada, you can go there. I don't want to go there that bad...

I have always wanted to see Cuba - especially before it changes.

In fact, it has been easy to go there before, but restrictions were re-invoked and just again lifted in 2012.

You can fly there directly from the US. But Germans and Brits have been able to cruise there for a long time.

But in truth, there are no hotels, so if you really want to see "Cuba" which to me is the cities and the culture, I would take a land trip. You stay in hotels and hear the fabulous Cuban music at night. You eat local dinners, etc.

Here is an example of a Fred Olsen cruise that has been going there almost every year for years now (I think they skipped one year recently, maybe 2013) http://www.fredolsencruises.com/plac...ses?continent=

From everything I have seen on tv and read about these culteral tours, are very regimented. You are not allowed to go exploring on your own....you see and hear what the goverment wants you to hear. For many, that would be enough, but at these prices, most would not indulge.

We have friends in Italy and Portugal that have visited Cuba and they liked the hotels where they stayed.

It's nice to hear your friends had an intersesting & interactive tour, in a place so many Americans would love to see, including me. Emails and snail mails I have received with educational tours are also out of my price range. From what I have seen on shows about this subject, interaction was not at all discouraged, but daily itineraries were strictly adherred to. It seems like a step back in time, with cordial Cubans welcoming all visitors, but allowing only what they want to allow....

There used to be a magazine called South Florida,[1996] which had an entire issue, dedicated to what will happen if Castro's goverment fell, and how Cubans who left their country, and are living in Sofla, would react. I have still have this issue, and it was a fascinating read. I'm suresome of it might be dated now, but the Cuban community there is ready when the time comes.
