Default Do you have a favorite cruise ship bar

I read an article "I was a Cruise Ship Bartender by Bruno Maddox which appeared in May 23, 2013 Travel and Leisure magazine. In the article was a list of shipboard bars under the title Five Shipboard Bars We Love by Jane Woolridge.

The list follows:
Rising Tide, Royal Carribean's Oasis and Allure.
Sveka Ice Bar, Norwegian Epic.
Mix. Holland America's Maasdam, Rotterdam, Ryndam, Statendam and Veedam
Alchemy Bar. Carnival Conquest, Glory, Liberty, Sunrise and Sunshine,
Crooners. Princess Cruises Royal Princess

This list might be somewhat dated because of new ships or an existing ship. Do you have another favorite bar to add to this list.

The Rising Tide and Svetka Ice Bars are gimmicks. I prefer a straight forward bar like the Schooner bars on Royal Caribbean ships, and Boleros on the Freedom-class ships.

Loved the Star Bar on some of the NCL ships. Small and cozy with a piano and a nightly crooner and the occasional sing along. Love that Fabritzio! Used to have fantastic 2 for 1 Martinis, the best ones I have ever had, even on land. The ones we had on the Epic were like drinking NyQuil. Sadly, they are being eliminated to make way for expansion of some dining venues.

Our new favorite is the Sugarcaine Mojito Bar on the Getaway with both indoor and outdoor space on the Waterfront. The freshest thing I've seen in drinks lately. Cucumber Jalepino and Pineapple Cocoanut were my faves, yum. I hope this is something they continue on the new builds.

Sugarcane Mojito Bar is pleasant. Bong Fernandez makes it special too with his banter as he makes drinks. I liked the mojito he made using Sriracha hot sauce.

Yes, Bong is our favorite bartender. He was on our Sun cruise as well. We were delighted to see him on the Getaway. Had no idea he would be there. He claimed to remember us, but I don't know.. He is currently on leave. I hope we run into him again in the future. We made our own Cucumber Jalepeno Mojitos a few Sundays ago. Not half bad!

My favorite is the Alchemy bars on Liberty and Glory. I love any bar that teaches me how to make a flame thrower out of an orange peel. Plus, the mint-tini is very good but don't drink more than one.

Take care,
Mike

My favorite was the Sports bar on the NCL Sun. Every day after 4 pm they served chicken wings, Fish and chips and a sandwich. The bar tender was excellent also. You could buy a bucket of beer and leave the rest there and come back and drink it later of the next day.

Yes, the bar was packed on Sunday's for the football games but all week long pretty much all that was on was soccer.

We sailed the Independence of the Seas last February and Embarked the day of the Daytona 500. There was no sports bar on the ship and the race was not to be found on the tv anywhere.

This may shock you, but with 2 exceptions, I've never walked into a bar on a ship...Back on the old scow, the Tropicale Bruce and I were part of a commercial shot in a bar, and, when I hosted the first Epic cruise,we had a cocktail party , that was on the deck with the dining room open to the deck, I forget the name.
