Default Election Cruising

We somewhat inadvertently scheduled our next cruise during the general election. (With the barrage of TV ads we will all receive, I kinda wish we booked back to back.) Any way, what sort of chatter would you expect onboard? I wonder if there will be heated political discussions or if most folks will be seeking a retreat from the madness? We would fall into the latter camp.

Bob,
Just keep in mind, that not everyone will be from the US, so you may not hear a lot of election chatter??

I'm wondering how many will consider themselves election refugees.

Depending on where you're going and the number of Europeans onboard, you may find alot of talk about the election.

We were in Europe during the 2008 campaign and as soon as they found out we were from the U.S., that's all they wanted to talk about. They knew more about what was going on than most Americans - it was quite amazing to hear all they had to say and how much they knew. We have many clients in Europe and it's really interesting to hear what they're saying about the current campaign.

So if you have alot of Europeans onboard, you may find it a great deal of fun!

Bob, I did that last election. I only had one bad experience, which was an older couple we got paired with in the dining room. They launched in on how much they hated Obama from the time we sat down
. We heard about it all meal long. Other than that, I doubt if we would have known who won if we hadn't actually turned the TV on and watched that night.

It seems that this year's presidential election is of the most interest in many years, perhaps since Kennedy vs.Nixon.

Default No issue

I feel uniquely qualified to answer since we've cruised every November for the last 11 years, as its my wife's birthday. We've encountered no political talk whatsoever during elections, presidential or mid term. We will be onboard this election too and hope for more of the same.

Cruising at that time sounds great. I would love to have some time without any political talk.

That is why I enjoyed talking to you when we met. We did not go into politics at all and we did have some great conversation.
