American Classic Voyages has filed for Chapter 11 reorganization and said it will stop operations of all its vessels except for the Delta Queen steamboat. Officials said the company's two Hawaii ships, the Patriot and the Independence, will stop sailing after their current cruises end on Saturday, October 20. As for its Delta Queen brand, the American Queen, Mississippi Queen, Columbia Queen and Cape May Light will cease operations when their current sailings end "over the next three days," the company said. Departures of the Delta Queen are expected to continue as scheduled. The company also said it intends to continue construction of its two 1,900-passenger "Project America" ships.
American Classic Voyages said customers booked on future departures of all vessels except the Delta Queen should contact their travel agent, insurance company or credit card company for information about refunds. The company has set up a special customer information number at 800-856-9904, or customers can visit its website at www.amcv.com.
