Hanoi Travel is the capital of Socialist Republic of Vietnam. Ha Noi lies in Red River Delta and is situated in a tropical area having a strong monsoon influence. The name of Ha Noi (Interior side of a river) has been derived from an ancient language which is literally known as a land area located in the inner side of Red River. It does not mean that the city is inside the river, but it is embraced by about 100 km of the Red River dykes. Ha Noi has nine inner precincts (Hoan Kiem, Ba Dinh, Hai Ba Trung, Dong Da, Cau Giay, Tay Ho, Thanh Xuan, Long Bien, Hoang Mai) and five suburban districts (Tu Liem, Thanh Tri, Gia Lam, Dong Anh and Soc Son

Why are Americans allowed to travel to Communist Vietnam and not to Communist Cuba ?

Is is because we did not lose a war in Cuba?

My sister-in-law vacationed in Vietnam . Perhaps if american citizens were able to travel to Cuba they might find that its not as bad to live there as our politicians tell us .

We didn't lose a war in China either; and we have been able to travel to communist China since the mid-70s. In fact, we can travel to many, many communist countries. Therefore, you have to look for another reason for the Cuba embargo.

BTW, one other country that used to be on the very short list of countries that we could not travel to was Albania. Now, Albania is a full member of NATO. Things change over time; seems everywhere, except Cuba.

PS Vietnam is a wonderful country to see either on a cruise or overland. There is a large business catering to ex-GIs wanting to see the country.

I would not mind visiting Vietnam, but I would want to visit Cuba as well and it is a lot closer.

Americans were last allowed to travel to Cuba when the US supported dictator was in power in the late 50's .

I would love to see Havana, if it were restored to the glory days of the 1950s. As for the rest of the country, there are a number of Caribbean islands with better infrastructure.

Perhaps without Battista when it really was a paradise .

Henry, I am too young to have travelled to pre-Castro Cuba. What was it like when you went? Was the "paradise" just in the area around Havana (close to USA) or was it elsewhere in country? Did you fly from NYC or take a boat from Florida?

Cuba may not be a Paradise but other Caribbean destinations are quite poor as well.
