My dog needs a bath, the IRS wants too much money and I've got root canal scheduled. What? Oh, you mean cruise problems! My worst nightmare hasn't happened yet, but I'm sure it will eventually, so why not prepare for it. What do I do when my suitcase doesn't arrive aboard ship. Sometimes I'm on an air/sea package, other times I make my own arrangements.

Suggestions?

My family took an alaskan cruise this past summer on royal carribean's vision of the seas. This was our first cruise and it was my fathers retirement present. We booked our cruise thru a local travel agent carlson wagonlit. our agent suggested that we take the cruise lines air package, even tho it was $200 more/person, because she said that if anything happened the cruise line would take of it. We missed our flight due to an hydrolic problem on the plane and missed our cruises departure in vancouver on sunday. They sent us to seattle, were we had to spend the next day as well. The air line flew us into skagway on tuesday and we did catch up with our boat on weds.
My problem is that we missed glacier bay one of the best sights on the inside passage, at least thats what all of the other passengers kept telling us. My father wanted to see the alaskan wildlife and most of it was in glacier bay. Also we were supposed to have a representive from royal meeting us at the airport and we were not supposed to have to deal with our luggage after we checked them in pittsburgh,pa. This was my parents first time on an airplane and could not have done this without my wife and I. By the time we caught up with the ship we were so tired and worn out that we had to drag ourselves off the ship when in the ports.
We wrote to royal and ms. jocelyn martin gave us credit for the unused cruise/only days and a $250 dollar voucher/person. We wrote back to them saying because we did not receive all that was promised in the booklet (talks on ports of call, the hecktic pace pace of the airports, and missing the best sights of the cruise) we felt that there should be more compensation.
Do you think we are asking for to much? and if not where can we turn?
