40 Ft. Wave

Has anyone heard anything recently about a 40 ft. wave swamping a cruise ship?

Hi Nan,
Just read that it was the P & O's, Oriana that was hit with the wave. Three passengers were treated for minor injuries and another 4 for shock. The wave
apparently broke windows, etc and that how the 3 people were injured, by flying glass.

RE: 40 Ft. Wave

Thanks Donna, when I was just talking to my incentive house travel agent, he mentioned it. Last week on the Millennium from Rome to Livorno we encountered a storm which caused the only motion (other than the problem vibrations) to be felt on the ship in the early hours of the morning. Glasses actually fell over from tables and the balconies were covered in salt and sand when we waited for the port of Livorno to be reopened for docking.

I don't think this wave was 40 feet....a 20 ft. wave caused considerable damage to the Marco Polo, including taking out some port holes. The ship was quickly fixed, however.
