Default Cuba Cruises

I've seen advertisements for 2 cruises to Cuba for U.S. citizens; Blyth and Co. Travel Ltd-La Habana 4/5 day and West Indies Cruises Ltd-Valtur Prima 7 day. Does anyone have any info on these companies, ships, etc. Are they reputable, sound financially, etc. Any info would be appreciated.

Isn't this the company that is baseing itself in the Bahamas? If it is they are the same company that went belly up last year and stranded a whole ship full of passengers on a South Pacific island where the ship ran aground to keep it from sinking. If you are wanting to cruise to Cuba might I suggest that you look into Airtours. The are a reputable line that cater to the British and Canadian folks and they visit Cuba as one of their ports. Airtours is partially owned by Carnival and is stable in their finances.

I believe one of these companies, based in Canada, did go belly up doing low cost around the world cruises. When they reached Tahiti, the ship was placed under arrest and the passangers and crew were stranded. No refunds and no transportation back home.

Can someone confirm that one of these operators is the same that went belly up?
And if so which one.

The company involved in La Habana, World Cruise Company, is the one that went belly up. There's an article in the premiere issue of "Expedia Travels", on p35, that goese into sme detail regarding their problems. Check it out if you can scare up an issue. Their website is www.etravels.net. They strongly suggest avoiding the company. I hope that this helps. Don't know anything about the other company.
