Since I didn't get any response from Lauren on the teen board thought I'd widen the search for a response.
My teens (14, 16) and a 19 year old almost adult are cruising with us on the Carnival Destiny for Christmas break. Am starting to get concered after reading some boards on another site. Complaints seem to be coming from teens about their not being enough to do, no places for the kids at night etc. etc. My kids were really looking forward to going and now are concered when they read these posts.
Lauren, know that you are an experienced teen cruiser and have been on the Destiny, what can you tell me about what they can expect? I also thought the teen program included 16 year olds. Just want them to be as excited as they have been.

Here is a review about Desiny, really don't think you need to worry about teens not having enough to do. Especially when traveling over a school break, should be plenty of other teens on board: Happy Holidays on board Destiny :-)
I've cruised on both the Destiny and the Triumph over Christmas with my sons.
The kids will have a great time, because there will be TONS of other kids onboard in the various age groups. It will take effort for them NOT to meet others.
However, the shortcoming on these ships, is the lack of dedicated teen areas. There is no teen disco, so the teens basically end up "taking over " the disco until later in the night, when they may be asked to leave.
This does leave them sort of looking for somewhere to hang out. Often they end up congregating along the boulevard outside the disco, or the pizza bar, or arcade.
Even with organized activities lacking, I don't think the older ones will have any problems with having a good time. Just have them check the Carnival Capers the first day on the ship, and be sure to have them attend the first onboard get togethers for their respective age groups.
Thanks Kuki. If Lauren is around would appreciate a teen's perspective on this. One question is if we are in the disco (of course not sitting with our teens) are they still kicked out a specific time?
