This past December, my fiance and I took a cruise on Grandeur of the Seas. We booked a Guaranteed "D" cabin back in August. We were shocked when the travel agent called us the Tuesday before the cruise stating we had been upgraded to a category "A" owner's suite, complete with entertainment center, whirlpool, and wet bar. Needless to say we were thrilled. We have booked a cruise on Vision of the Seas on October 7th from San Diego to Miami via the Panama Canal, and have once again booked a Guaranteed "D" cabin. Is there a strong chance that we may get upgraded again??? or was it just luck that we got bumped up 3 categories of cabin. Thanks for your help.
I think you were pretty lucky with your last guarantee, at least you book a cabin catagory that is good to begin with, so it would be kind of strange if you got another one, but stranger things have happened. Good luck and let us know
what you end up this time :-)
Here is an article that pretty much explains the "guarantee" process:
Mark, What can I say buddy! You got not only lucky, you won the darn lottery! I wouldn't count on that happening again but if it ever does, you need to take up gambling! Good luck and congratulations on your good fortune!
Lucky lucky you. I don't know that I'd hold my breath about upgrades. I started cruising in 1959 and have been cruising steadily since then and have only been upgraded twice. I never book anything that I wouldn't be comfortable in, but have never won the lottery like you did. So happy for you and may you continue to love cruising, upgrades or not.
