I've seen several posts out on other message boards about taking GPS along. I am thinking about taking ours to track the ships speed, and distance from the next port, you know important stuff to look at while laying around in the sun. Does anyone have the exact coordinates of the piers the ships dock at? Inparticular we need Barbados, St. Maartin and Martinique.
These days a lot of GPS devices - like the ones that come on Android phones, use Google Maps - so if you just put in the name of the city you are going to dock in you will get a very good idea of the ship's progress.
If you want the exact address (you do not need the GPS coordinates) you can just google [city] cruise pier and get the address and put that in as your destination.
With the Android GPS all you need to use is "My Location" and it knows where you are.
Of course, phoe GPS rely on access to the phone network so you would need to be connected to the Internet or cell network somehow. A regular GPS generally uplinks directly to satellites. But still, it seems like you could just put in the name of the city and that would get you close - unless you really want to fine-tune it.
