I will be sailing on the Celebrity Galaxy for 14 day - July 14 - 28, 2001. Ports of call will be Stockholm, Helsinki, St. Petersburg, Tallin, Gdansk, Rostock, Copenhagen, Oslo and Amersterdam. Not having traveled this part of Northern Europe in July, I would like to inquire about what the average temperatures might be. I use to have a chart that gave temperatures for various parts of the world at various time however, it has become lost. Help me if you can.
I've been twice to the Baltics. Once, we didn't take shorts and for ten days it was in the 80's and very sunny. The second time, temps were in the high 70's. But the weather should be beautiful, the sun hardly ever sets and these cities just sparkle. It's one of the very best, most beautiful, areas in the world. My favorite ports are Stockholm (great for walking around on your own) and St. Petersburg, which looks just like it did when Czar Nicholas left in 1917. Stunning palaces, but alas, here there is virtually no shopping.
My wife & I were on a RCCL 12-day cruise throughout that area of the world in July 2000. Weather could be a bit cool in early AM, & then warms up to be just beautiful & in the 70s. Make sure you do a lot of walking around these great cities!
Enjoy. Ours was just fantastic!
You seem to be the most experienced Baltic person
so, if you don't mind, I would like to ask you the following:
In St. Petersburg, can we take a reliable taxi or some
kind of transportation from the pier to the Hermitage and
have them pick us up in the evening from the Hermitage
and take us back to the pier?
Do you know of any reliable company that we could make
such an arrangement?
