Now that the northeast is facing more bad weather, has anyone ever missed their cruise and had to be flown to the next port (we do have insurance). If that happens to us we miss 2 days of a seven day cruise and I wonder what compensation occurs. We are cruising with RCI.
If you got your insurance from RCI, it should pay your air fare to the port where you can embark and you chould receive a credit for days missed. That's what happened to us on a Princess cruise out of London. They even reimbursed us for taxi fares from the airport to the port in Amsterdam (a long, expensive ride), since we had paid for transfers. It was all handled on the ship.
Not always. If bad weather cancels all flights a day early (as happened Mar. 5 in New York), you may not be able to get a flight the next day your ship leaves. Also, if you planned to spend a day at the beach in Florida before the cruise, you may not get any sleep because of Spring break parties going on at your motel all night.
