What is a reasonable compensation/refund for this cruise we returned from last week: the cruise line booked the air as part of the package, Boston to Miami with a 1 hour 20 minute connection in Miami for a flight to Barbados, arriving Barbados at 9PM to catch 12 midnight sailing. I complained about the tight connection, they insisted and suggested they would hold the ship or plane since so many on the ship were on the same connecting flight to Barbados. Our flight from Boston was delayed in Boston for 2 hours by sleet and de-icing, we missed the connecting flight to Barbados and the ship. It took 2 days to catch up with the ship, and much rerouting, finding hotels and stress! (Yes, the moral is to arrive at the port 1 or 2 days early) We missed 2 days of a 7 day cruise, our luggage arrived on day 3. This is the third time we have cruised on this line.
In this case what is a reasonable refund, what do the cruise lines typically offer?
Not exactly sure if they will offer anything, but be sure to follow through with any claims. Best bet is to purchase the travel insurance, did you have any? Sorry to hear about your problems, but all in all how was the rest of the cruise? Hope you were able to enjoy it and not let the late start get in the way of having fun.
We missed the first day of our cruise from Dover a couple of years ago. Princess re-arranged our air to Amsterdam, our first port of call and told us to save our receipt from our taxi driver from Schipol Airport to the port, a $40 ride. We did and we were re-imbursed for our lost day and our taxi ride while we were onboard. It appeared as a credit. A class act, IMHO. I think the very least they owe you since they booked the cruise, is a refund for your two lost cruise days.
