We recently took the Royal C on a three day cruise out of Seattle, and discovered that the famed Midnight buffet that we had come to love and lust after years ago didn't occur. Was this because it was a short cruise, or has that delight been done away with? It's been 7 years since our last cruise, so we know things might have changed.
We're going to be on a Celebrity Cruise this August, and just wondered if it was still around. thanks.
Seems like the Midnight buffet has been becoming a thing of the past, recently on Explorer and there was just 1 midnight buffet, guess the costs have just gotten to be too much??? HOpefully you will at least get 1 on your 7 night Celebrity cruise??
I was on the RCCL Majesty a few weeks ago and there were two midnight buffets. One was the Midnight Delight, cakes and goodies as well as shrimp cocktail and roast beef, and the other was a "Food Market" all kinds of foods.
NCL still has two as well, the Chocoholic Buffet and the Gala Buffet. The other nights there are "midnight snacks" in some of the lounges and casino. I love the Midnight buffets - just seeing them and taking pictures is great. I hope they keep them as well.
No, NO, NO!!!!!!! I won't hear of it!!!!!!
Never have I hear such atrosities.
Sakes alive, I have been cruising 11 years and have never, I repeat, N.E.V.E.R.
missed a single nights midnight buffet. If it truly is a thing of the past I am bringing my duffle bag to dinner and loading up for later.
On my last few cruises there has only been one or two large buffets. I really didn't mind at all. Since I usually have late seating for dinner, I am really not ready to eat again in just an hour and a half. I do like the idea of waiters circulating in the lounges and casino with trays of goodies. Especially when I am either winning or trying to recoup my losses on the blackjack table.
Quite often I just didn't want to leave whatever I was doing at the time to go to a buffet. The ones that are on deck and coincide with another activity, like dancing on deck, are fine since I would be there any way to participate in the activity.
It is also such a shame to see so much food just sit there because not enough people can eat much more at the late hour. So I for one do not lament the demise of midnight buffets EVERY night.
I do hope the cruise lines keep the Gala buffet and the Chocolate buffet, though.
