New England/Canada cruises
We are wondering what cruising is like from NY on these trips. How rough or smooth can the waters be.

We have cruised the inside Alaska passage twice and had no problems. But we are definately "Fair Water" cruisers. We don't want to take the chance of being green and worshiping the porcelin god for some or all of a vacation.

Thanks for your responses.

Hi Don,

YOu will be in the open ocean on this cruise so there is a little more motion than in Alaska, another favorite cruise of mine. If you're concerned about seasickness I would like to recommend Bonine. My daughter gets terribly seasick and she swears by this stuff, an over the counter, inexpensive drug. Start taking it the morning you sail, just a half tablet will do it, and you won't be sleepy, you can have drinks and live quite normally. My daughter swears by it.

I've been on two cruises from NY to Canada... one in August 99 and the other in June 00. The first was smooth as silk; the second found the weather stormy and the seas rough. Bonine (or Dramamine II, same stuff) to the rescue!

Personally, I like some motion-- it reminds me I'm at sea. :)
