I've used cruise411.com. I got some great rates, they were responsive to my needs and I was satisfied with them. One way to check if they're on the up and up is to see where your deposit goes. If it goes directly to the cruiseline your chances are very good the online company is on the up-and-up. If the agency books it, cancel immediately. And check their cancellation policy before you give them your credit card. Although the cruiseline allows cancellations without penalty up to a certain date, some travel agencies take a cancellation "fee" wherever. Cruise 411 does not, because we cancelled one cruise and booked another. No problem. You should also check and see if they belong to ASTA, CLIA and others that the travel pros here can remember.

I'm using Cruise411.com myself and as noted above the deposit charge to my credit card was to the cruise line, not the agency. I'm pretty happy with the rate I got as well, I've been checking once a week and haven't seen a lower rate yet. They're a subsidiary of Rosenbluth Travel, which is a pretty big outfit, so that made me feel more secure as well.

Downside seems to be if you have to call their 800 number you will have to wait to speak to a human being; my shortest wait time so far was 20 minutes trying to arrage a variance on my flight to and from the actual cruise. Once I got a live person, each question I asked caused him to put me on hold and call the cruise line and after the second time this happened I suggested we talk through all the options and THEN have him place me on hold and call the line, which worked out much better!

In the six years I have been running a cruise site on the internet,
I've yet to hear that anyone has been scammed by an on-line site.

You use your credit card here, which protects you. But check to
see the agency's credentials in "About Us"...they should be a member
of Cruise Line International Association (CLIA), an association the vast
majority of agents selling cruises joins.
