Default Lost luggage on RC Radiance cruise

I just got back from a cruise to Alaska on the Radiance. My suitcase disappeared somewhere between the port and the Vancouver airport. The Royal Caribbean staff at the airport seemed totally disorganized and pretty clueless about tracking procedures, etc. The person who filled out the claim form for me said, "Don't worry -- it will definitely be on the next bus," and so she wrote down next-to-nothing on the form for purposes of identifying the bag. She was wrong -- I waited for the next six or seven buses, and the bag never showed up. From what I've read on the Internet, I get the impression that RC does a pretty lousy job recovering lost luggage. I tried the toll-free number, but no one answered. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I might "help" RC find my bag? I will be heartbroken if it's disappeared for good. How long should I wait before I give up and file a claim?

Many thanks.

Hi, Melissa ...

I lost a bag on the way back from somewhere ... it was about three weeks before it showed up and that was just the airline! I checked it myself.

Start filling out the claim forms now. Contact Security at RCI by telephone also. It is probably still back at the port or taking another cruise! Do mention every single detail about the luggage: brand, size, color even contents, etc. I take it you claimed it before going through customs, so you know it was loaded off ship. Be very descriptive in any correspondence. Keep the faith and a prayer to St. Anthony (no matter what religion you may choose, if any) will definetly help. I know it will turn up.

Good Luck..The defunked Premier Lines, lost one of my bags a year ago April.
It was a carry-on that I watch them put in the bottom of the bus in transfer from
the hotel to the docks...when we reached the pier and I finally made it off the
bus....you guessed it...no carry on....There were soo many people around the
area...who knows who picked it up...but they ended up with alot of nice jewerly,
tolietries, and everything you would pack in your carry on...

I have learned on thing out of this...never take jewerly on a trip, and try to keep
your luggage with you as much as possible...

I hope you have better luck with RC then I did....with Premier....
