Default Carnival Cruise out of Newport News VA

Considering one of Carnival's cruises out of Newport News, VA as this is much closer to us and we could drive. Cruises would be to Bahamas or Bermuda. How are these cruises out of smaller ports like this and how rough would the Atlantic waters be? The ships would be either the Triumph or the Victory. Any opinions on these ships or any others sailing out of Newport News to caribbean , bahamas or mexico? (doesnt have to be Carnival) Thanks.

Newport News would be a good port. You do not have the congestion as in some ports. It is on the James River about 3 miles from the mouth of the lower Chesapeake Bay and surrounded by Navy combat vessels. The channel is 50 to 55 feet deep that leads out to the Atlantic. The ocean tends to be somewhat rougher in the winter, but should not be a problem with the new ship technology. We are leaving on our cruise out of Norfolk on Nov lst. Bon Voyage

You be in the Atlantic Ocean, so I suggest you be prepared for high seas.
It may be calm, but it's always good to know what the possibilities are.
Bonine is a good medication that prevents sea sickness. But take it before
you board the ship -- after you're sick, it doesn't work.

Personally, I love being at sea, and would take this in a heartbeat.
