About the Crew....

I will be sailing on Celebrity's Horizon in Feb to Mexico. I've noticed on previous cruises that the various ship's crew members, waiters, cabin stewards, etc. are from middle Eastern countries such as Turkey, Greece, Iran and even the ships are registered to some middle Eastern countries. I'm somewhat embarrassed bringing this up, as on past cruises the crew members have been wonderful, but I'm getting a little paranoid here.....is anyone else concerned about this type of security?.....

I had thought about the same thing, I think most people have. I've decided not to worry about it. I'm sure that the cruise lines have checked their employees out completly now as they wouldn't want anything to happen at sea anymore than we would. And we also have to remember that it's a group of terrorist not a nationality of people that are the cause of this. The woman that owns the gas station by my house is from Afganastan and she is one of the nicest people I have ever met. God willing this will be over soon and everybody can put these fears behind us and learn to trust each other again.

Since Bush wants to eliminate terrorism, period the end, I don't think this will be over in our lifetime, maybe never. However, since everyone is on a full alert, I'm sure that foreign employees are having their identities checked left, right and center. I think we currently need to separate muslims in general from the terrorists. The muslims I know are wonderful people and totally horrified at the attack. However, the muslims I know are all American citizens, no questions about their loyalties.

I know the crew on Rccl has been checked and rechecked. Besides it takes more then one person to drive a ship. The Bridge already has water tight doors with cameras and the whole area around that is watched. Before you can get onto the Bridge of a ship they can see who it is. It is safe enough for me I leave on the Vision of the Seas Sunday . So enjoy your cruise and don't worry
