My wife and I will be taking a 16 day trans-atlantic cruise that begins on 11/20/01 in Barcalona and ends in Miami. We are having some problems trying to figure out what type of clothing to take.We do not know if we should take all winter clothing or take some lighter clothing as well.Since we have never cruised in the winter,in winter climates,we do not know what the appropriate clothing should be.Any help you can give will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
In a word, you're screwed. Spain can range from cold and wet to brisk and sunny that time of year. The Atlantic will be chilly to bitter, especially in the wind until you enter the Gulf Stream, where it should become warm and pleasant in the sun. Miami will be light jacket to hot. Best bet is to layer, sweater and light water proof outerwear as opposed to heavy coat. If you take one of each instead of daily ensembles the luggage shouldn't be too heavy. Be prepared, you are going from Europe to the tropics at the most unpredictable time of year. Bright side is that crowds will be light (Spanish aren't big on Thanksgiving). If you get advice about exactly what you should take, beware.
