Carnival Victory - liquor

I am from the UK. 10 years ago I sailed on Royal Princess and was able to buy bourbon on ship and drink in cabin. It appears that you cannot even take your own liquor aboard anymore! Is this true and if so has anyone any tips on beating this ridiculous policy?

Re: Carnival Victory - liquor

I have had no problem taking bottles of wine and ligueur aboard ship packing them in the suit case , well protected by the clothing. We get our newspapers delivered and the papers are inside double plastic wrappers; knotting the tops so to enclose the bottles in case of breakage. Never has happened in.
30 years of cruising. I have cruised with Carnival ,Princess as well as Holland America never had a problem. I have even carried 5 liter carton of wine onto the ship without being stopped.
