Default last minute cruises

Do the Cruise Lines do any last minute standby cruises? I know they discontinued this practice after 9/11 but wonder if they have started again. Have a friend from Indianapolis that will be in Ft. Lauderdale in February. They are wait listed on the Ocean Princess and wonder if they would stand a chance of getting onboard a ship if that falls through and they just arrived at the port on a good sailing day. Any help would be appreciated.

I wouldn't bet the farm on that one. The rates have been so deeply discounted that most people have taken advantage of them.
