Default Charleston - what to do?

Will be sailing out of Baltimore on the Galaxy 9-30-02. Our first port is Charleston, SC. The ship offers no excursions. I would like to make the most of my visit to this historic city. Any suggestions on what to see and how to get around will surely be appreciated.

I enjoy history if that helps.

Thanks,

Judy

Charleston is a great place to visit. Was there about 5 years ago. You might want to look on the net under Charleston and see if you can find any tour companies. They can get you around in a short period of time. If time permits, rent a car. The city is easy to drive in and you will enjoy it. I can't wait to get back there!
Have a great trip.

I'm with Burtie ...

Charleston is beautiful. My favorite search engine is google.com -- you will probably find more information than you can assimilate !!!

I live in Charleston, so I have several suggestions for you:
Take a guided tour, either walking or in a horse-drawn carriage, these can be found at the Market, and probably online.
Charleston is a great walking city, and you can see tons of historic buildings and shops just wandering around if you are so inclined. Also, Charleston is known for wonderful food, so try out some local eateries!
If you have time, you can take a ferry to Ft. Sumter, where the first shots of the Civil War were fired, and enjoy a cruise around the harbor. Good luck, and I hope you enjoy Charleston!
