Default Experience with Priceline flights?

Has anyone had experience with booking flights on Priceline? We have the flexibility to arrive a day early and leave the a day after our cruise. Our cruise is during winter break in February, and the flights are outrageous right now.

I've done it for hotels but not flights. The last time I checked them for a flight you had to buy it before you knew which airline and what times and how many stops so I didn't use them. Hopefully someone else will have more information for you.

I have used Priceline before.... But depends on what you are willing to do..

For instance I live in NY, and wanted to go to Atlanta. There are 3 airports that make direct flights... and is ussually 2 hours in length.

I went to Priceline and used there service... I took a 2 hour flight to Cleveland... and then a 1 hour lay-over... than a 2 hour flight to Atlanta...

This was about 2 years ago.. so maybe things have changed... But I would not do it again.

I have booked many flights with Priceline. You can choose weather you are willing to make connections or not, and you may choose your airport. Sometimes you may get offered a price that is lower than the airline, but higher than your bid. Every time I have booked a Priceline flight I have gotten booked on American Airlines. I am sure it depends on your airport and destination. I fly out of St. Louis. I have booked flights to Atlanta, San Diego, San Francisco and LAX.

Do not miss your flight! You are SOL if you do because these are non-refundable and non-changable. On average I have saved about $100 per flight. These are round trip tickets. I have booked round trips for one way trips just because they are cheaper than one way tickets.

Thanks for the information. Another questions - when using Priceline, did you experience longer layovers, or being routed through odd airports? Flying with the family, I don't mind a reasonable layover, but don't want to kill the better part of a day in an airport keeping two pre-teens occupied!

Any info. would be great!

No I have not had any layovers they have all been non-stops so far. I fly out of St. Louis and all of the Priceline flights I have booked have been on American Airlines. I can recall the last few have been STL to Atlanta and STl to San Francisco, and STL to Austin TX. I think it is more dependant on your departure airport and what major airline has hubs there.
