Hi, Denise ...
Once, a long time ago, a lovely couple overslept their main seating dinner. The Maitre d' came to our table (for two) and asked if we'd mind company. Of course not.
Chairs were quickly moved, places laid, and we had a heck of a good time with these folks and ended up in the disco with them. (I am NOT a disco person.)
Later, the Maitre d' sought us out and thanked us for being so accomodating.
Why was this a deal? The couple was African-American and the Maitre d' was beside himself about whom to ask. He figured that we would be cool with it ... and we were.
It's one of my best cruise memories.
Thank you for reminding me of it.
Keep in mind that the ship doesn't sail (and dinner isn't served) until everyone is back on board ... you may have to hustle to hit early seating, but it CAN be done.
And there is always room service.
