Default good time to cruise?

hello... i'm somewhat disappointed that I cannot go on my planned cruise in february. I have 2 other options for next year. It would be in the 1st week of either may or september. Which is a better time to cruise the caribbean? I'm leaning towards May and definitely still on Paradise.
Thanks
Rich

I have traveled both times and much prefer early May (during finals at most schools, so not a lot of kids).

Well Rich, the weather is often quite nice at both times of the year BUT...in Sept you do have the possibility of a hurricane to contend with. That is why the prices tend to be a little less during that time of the year. Anne wrote a very nice story about hurricanes and cruiseing that is available on the homepage.

I'd go with May for several reasons, 1) less kids, 2)virtually zero possibility of hurricane
(while September is high season for them) 3) most important, May is sooner and you always want to cruise sooner rather than later. If you like May, you can go again in September.

I agree! why wait! I've been trying to get a hold of my carnival travel planner to switch my dates, but we kept missing each other today.
