Traveling 09/14/02 Explorer of the Sea, Western Carribean. I am perflexed about choosing the right shore excursion for Cozemel. I want the best morning snorkeling experience with a little time for shopping in the afternoon. Which rccl (or private company) excursion would you suggest? Cyn
I went off on my own and visited Isla Mujeres. this is a beautiful island where you can rent mopeds, snorkel, see a few ruins, visit with sea turtles and have a great time with limited amounts of turists. Great fun, I might add.
Tagging on to Chuck Palm, it's at least 70 Km. from Playa to Cancun then you have to get the ferry from Cancun to Isla Mujeres. Then you have to get back to ship.
And before you can get from Playa to Cancun and Isla Mujeres you have to get to Playa from Cozume (about an hour each way by ferry).
The only time we went to Isla Mujeres, it was wall-to-wall (OK, beach-to-beach) tourists.
With all respect to Chuck, I'd give that idea a minus-one as how to spend a day on Coz.
Chankanaab Park is a 15 minute ride by taxi and is so beautiful, that we have been there three times! There is a line of taxis waiting to take you back to the pier or shopping when you leave the park. You will not be disappointed. You can do this on your own (cab is 8 -10 dollars) 10 dollars per person to get into the park.
While shopping in Cozumel, take a few minutes to enjoy the museum. We were there ages ago on Norwegian's Seaward and had listened to the port lecturer recommend it. There's a balcony on the second floor with a bar where you can enjoy a refreshing marguerita while watching people passing below.
