Default Cruise Pot

Just got off the Grandeur of The Seas, our first cruise. A little steep in pricing for us. 4000 dollars is just too much out of the bank account at once. So for our next cruise (hopefully next summer) we are having a coffee can that we fill up with loose quarters, and paper money we have left over. Stuff like tax rebates and holiday money will also go in. Then, on May first, we count it, and see if we have enough. (of corse if we dont we still go! )

Like the idea for a the middle class family?

$4000? What kind of cabin did you have and how many people were in your group?

My husband and I just booked a 10 day for two with a balcony cabin and r/t air to LA
for $3000 total.

$4000 seems high for a seven day cruise out of Florida! You must have had a mini suite?

I always save my change. I also have a garage sale every year and I put that money in the vacation fund as well. Keep saving your money!

I agree with Donna, $4000 does seem steep. Must have been "lucky" enough to have a mini-suite! But I am sure your family had a really good time and thought the money was well worth it.

I like the coffee can idea, only I might try something bigger! We currently have two popcorn tin cans going strong for our extra, extra spending needs. So far so good!!!

I'm sure glad I read this thread!...I thought "Cruise Pot" meant something entirely different!
Great idea though.

Hi,
Saving change is a great idea. I've been on several cruises doing that. Another great thing to do is at the end of the night put all your one dollar bills in there too. You'll be amazed how much you can save that way and never miss it in your budget. I'm booked on my 30th cruise and thats what I've done for years. Linda

Mrs. Thomas and I have a shoe box next to the bed and everytime we make whoooopeee we each put in a dollar! This gives us real incentive to stay affectionate. On our last booking I opened up the shoe box to count the money and to my surprise found several $20 bills. Since I don't recall ever putting in any $20's I asked her where they came from and she said, "Well, everybody's not as cheap as you!"

Regards,
Thomas

I think I really like Mrs. Thomas.

Does she have a real name, I wonder?

I will discuss this program with Mr. Pam

I really like Mrs. Thomas too, that's why don't reveal her real name. She likes a long leash.<g>

No, IOU's are not allowed. If she doesn't have a dollar she doesn't get ..............

Well...................I guess I would think about it. Let's see, loan her a dollar this time, then maybe next time, then again in the morning..............NAH. She'd take advantage of it!

Thomas

I'm going to start charging Queeg $100 per "outing." Or would that be "inning"?

We are of course, discussing baseball.

I think I am getting into trouble and will stop now.

Now we know that Pamda and Queeg started the phrases of "getting to 2nd base", "getting to 3rd base" and "hitting a home run"!!!!
