Default hurricane

I see there is a hurrican in gulf of mexico - predicted to go ashore south of galveston - how would passengers awaiting the cruises out of Galveston (Sat depature on Carnival and Sun departure on RCCL) find out what the status of ship is - can a ship dock in a downpour? It's not that strong a hurricane and the winds were only (?) gale force, would that prevent a ship from arriving/departing?

Default Re: hurricane

There is a tropical storm (not a hurricane) in the Gulf. Rain alone will not stop a full size cruise ship.Wind and tide can have some effect and could conceivably impact arrivals and departures. More importantly, airplane arrivals and departures are probably impacted. This is a good reason for planning arrival for the day before a cruise, giving you 24 to 36 hours to deal with a weather problem.
